Country Critters began with a simple dream: to create a place where pet lovers in small towns like Edgewood could find everything they need — without traveling miles to the big city. When we first opened our doors in 2016, we weren’t just starting a business — we were building a community.

From the beginning, locals embraced us with open arms. People came in not just for pet supplies and live animals, but also for guidance, friendly conversations, and that neighborly feeling you can’t get from a chain store. We specialized in exotic animals, small pets, and hard-to-find feeders like crickets and feeder fish — filling a gap that had long been overlooked in our area.

Between 2016 and 2018, our little shop made a big impact. We were honored to be voted “Best of the City” three years in a row — a huge win, especially considering we’re not even in the city! It meant the world to us that our small-town shop could compete with big-name stores, and more importantly, that it meant something to you.

But in 2018, life threw us a curveball. Due to an unexpected illness, we had to make the heartbreaking decision to close. For seven long years, not a week went by without someone saying, “We really miss Country Critters.” And we felt the same.

Now, we’re back — stronger, healthier, and more inspired than ever. We’re reopening under a new partnership — still run by the same passionate owner, now with a little extra help to do things even better this time. We’ve taken what we learned during those early years and added new ideas, new energy, and a renewed love for our community.

This isn’t just a comeback. It’s a second chapter, and we’re writing it with heart.
